Trentham Waters Resort – A Family‑Friendly Oasis
From the moment we arrived at Trentham Waters Resort, we were greeted very warmly. At check‑in, we were handed a comprehensive information package containing all the necessary literature, a park map, wristbands for amenity access, and a code for the boom gate. As we had booked an ensuite caravan site, the welcome pack also included a postcard, a small welcome gift, details of activities scheduled for the long weekend, and restaurant opening times. I found this to be an exceptional welcome and was genuinely impressed.
The young lady who assisted us at reception was extremely informative and answered all of our questions without hesitation, setting a very positive tone for our stay.
Driving to our site, it was immediately clear how clean and well laid out the park is. The ensuite caravan sites are generously sized, and once the trees between sites mature, they will offer excellent privacy. The ensuite itself was spotless and very thoughtfully designed, which I expected given how The facilities are new.
The villas are also well spaced, ensuring they don’t feel crowded. They appear modern, stylish, and spacious, adding to the overall resort feel of the park.
The caravan sites are well set out with the larger sites along the fence reserved for family’s with pets. These sites have more than enough room for furry friends to run around in. Of cause all dogs must be on a leash and poop etiquette is required. I would have loved to see a dog park just to be able to give the dogs a run. There is more than enough space for one to be provided.
The amenities throughout the park are superb. The camp kitchen is exceptionally well equipped, making it ideal for both cooking and socialising, and the fire pit is a lovely touch. The public amenities are on par with a five‑star resort, and the laundry facilities—complete with washers are immaculate.
Our second day was packed with activities, thanks to the long weekend. There were jumping castles, pony rides down by the river, Laser Force, a candy cart, and several food vans. Speaking with staff, it seems there are plans (hopefully) to run similar activities during future long weekends, perhaps including fishing competitions in the cooler months.
In terms of permanent attractions, the waterpark is an absolute highlight. While it’s primarily designed for children, I couldn’t resist joining in—and I’m glad I did. Flying down the waterslide was exhilarating and made me feel like a kid again.
Live performances on the stage near the pool added a wonderful atmosphere. The music wasn’t too loud, and most guests seemed to really enjoy it.
Additional facilities include a games room with a small selection of games (at $2.50 per game), free table tennis tables that were well used by guests, and a compact but impressively equipped gym featuring modern equipment.
We also took a walk down to the river, where there is a private boat ramp and jetty available for guest use. The walk took around one kilometre return. For those with small children, driving may be easier. The park advertises golf cart hire to get around, although I’m not sure if this service is currently operating.
The pool area is kept immaculate. While the pool is heated, it didn’t feel particularly warm, and the spa wasn’t as hot as expected—though that may just be my age showing, especially with energetic kids splashing about.
There is a poolside bar connected to Kokomo Restaurant, where you can also order food. Staff deliver your food and drinks once ready, which is a great touch. Lounge chairs are scattered throughout the area, including poolside seating. Guests can also hire a cabana for five hours at $200, which acts as a food and drink tab.
Kokomo Restaurant and Bar certainly brings a resort‑style vibe to the park. Whether dining poolside or inside, it’s a convenient option for meals. We enjoyed a wood‑fired (gas) pizza poolside, which was quite nice. However, I was disappointed that the indoor restaurant menu was the same as the poolside menu. Given that bookings were required, I was expecting something more refined. The meals were average and slightly overpriced for what was offered.
Overall, Trentham Waters Resort truly feels like a piece of paradise in the middle of the desert. I would definitely book again for a weekend getaway. If you have children, it’s an absolute must for your holiday bucket list. However, if you’re seeking a quiet escape, this may not be the park for you—although it is surprisingly peaceful at night, likely thanks to very tired kids!
